WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
After many years working as a sommelier in some of Australia’s leading restaurants, and now welcoming guests into our Bottega 1900 wine cellar, I have noticed that many people love wine but still feel unsure when choosing it—especially Italian wine.
I created this wine course to make wine simpler, more approachable and genuinely enjoyable. Together, we will explore how to taste and describe wine, understand grape varieties, regions, climate and winemaking, read a wine label and confidently navigate a restaurant wine list or bottle shop. We will also look at practical food pairings and help you recognise your own palate.
My goal is not to tell you which wines you should like, but to give you the knowledge and confidence to understand what is in your glass and choose what you genuinely enjoy.

Our Wine Appreciation Course is a relaxed and engaging introduction to the world of wine — designed for curious beginners and wine lovers who want to understand wine beyond simply drinking it.
Over three hours, we’ll take you through the fundamentals of wine, from grape varieties and regions to winemaking, tasting techniques, food pairing and how to understand your own palate.
You’ll taste wines from different countries and styles, discover the stories behind them, and learn how climate, terroir and winemaking can completely transform the character of a wine.

Please note that all tickets for our wine tasting events are non-refundable. Due to the intimate nature of our experiences and limited seating, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations or no-shows.
However, we understand that plans can change. If you notify us at least 72 hours before the event, we’ll do our best to reschedule your booking for a future tasting (subject to availability). We appreciate your understanding as we prepare each event with carefully selected wines, limited-edition products, and tailored service.
